Bear

*Image & card by blackbirdletterpress

This card has made the rounds online, but I love the idea of this pink bear hugging just about anything you can squeeze between his paws.  In fact, I love this bear hug card as an impromptu frame or photo mat.  That would be pretty unique.  Might just have to sweep one up.  My dad used to bear hug me so that my squeals came out in loud choppy bursts, maybe he'd like a pink bear.  Who was your most memorable bear hug?

Map

You can read this image two ways, either the intended message is love for San Antonio or love from San Antonio. I'm broadcasting the latter. Much love broadcasting to my friends and family from deep in the heart of Texas. This weekend I'm making Valentines at craft day and hopefully will get plenty addressed so that they can be mailed and in everyone's hands by the 14th. Do you send Valentine's Day cards to your loved ones?

Picture Day

*Images by Karla Jean Davis

Please oh please, let there be a lazer background to choose from today! School pictures would be so much cooler if I purposely tried to look like an idiot. I think, with this idea in the back of my head, I will now have the best school picture yet. I also have the scene from Napoleon Dynamite playing out in my head...fist under chin, head tilted just so, thinking of sea horses. Perfection. What year did you have your best school picture?

Update

So, having a cute puppy does not guarantee a win in a patio decorating contest. In an adorable dog in Santa hat contest we would be contenders. Unfortunately, only the photos of the dog turned out. You'll have to take me at my word that the patio looked great. I saw the winners and am still happy to have entered - they surely spent more than $6 dollars. I bet this guy wishes he was napping in my lap right about now. (I wouldn't mind having a puppy in my lap right now either...)

Smirk

*Image and tea towel via Mengsel Design

The idea of robots in love makes me smirk a bit. Partly because I like robots in general and partly because this print of robots in love reminds me of some friends. My husband set up photography shop in the living room and was commenting about being a dork. When I told him I always knew he was a dork he seemed a little taken aback - but that is something I love about him. Of course I readily admit to my own dorky-ness (dorkiness?) so that makes us a good pair.

Picture day

Yep, today is picture day. Hopefully I get a good photo this year. With my trip to Seattle ahead and only three days of school this week my smile should be genuine and beaming.

Sticky

*Image via Photojojo

Like you may have read in my profile, I like getting mail. This will be a fun package to open. I discovered the Photojojo shop via Apartment Therapy. They were showcasing these great stick-on photo frames and it sparked my attention. These are perfect for decorating a classroom because the bonus is that they don't leave marks and are reusable. I love a good little investment like this. Little details like this inspire me, I like to decorate. The site design is also pretty cool and I especially appreciated the user interface. When I registered to purchase my items a small robot appeared on the screen and greeted me using my first name. I do like robots. Look at me, I'm gushing...

Wedding I

*Images by Cheryl Jones

The disk of wedding photos came in the mail yesterday and I am so pleased by the quality and all of the photos we have of our wedding day. I loved going through the photos and seeing how much fun everyone was having and how happy all of our friends and family were throughout the day. We had a wonderful photographer who really captured who we were and the relaxed, fun feeling at our wedding. We were especially lucky to have a beautiful day in Seattle to celebrate. I hope you enjoy this first peek.

Wow

I totally couldn't resist. Our wedding photos are on their way to us in the mail and our photographer just posted more pictures on her blog. There are a few photos that make me smile and some that I am more than pleased to know she captured. There is a shot of my hand holding a handkerchief makes me emotional. Inadvertently, Cheryl got a picture of me with both of my grandmothers on my wedding day. The handkerchief was passed along to me by my mom who knew I would want something from her mother on my wedding day and the ring was from my parents and contains Idaho garnets that were unearthed by my dad's mom. I just made that connection. All of my aunts were right, both of my mociutes (grandmothers) were with me.

Love & Puppy

This is one of our favorite photos from our engagement session. Mainly because our puppy is so cute. I'm glad that we took him with us for pictures, it will put everything in perspective ten years down the line when he's big and old. Too bad the cat couldn't make it to the photo shoot, we'd have a family portrait.

Pin-up

*Image by Anna Zatopek by way of Offbeat Bride

Pin-up images are something that I have always enjoyed. Budoir photos are a new trend in wedding photography, but this looks like so much more fun. I don't think I'll ever be the subject of a photo shoot like this, but I certainly appreciate the idea. My favorite part of pin-up images is that they depict more realistic images of women. The glamor is not focused on especially twig-like ladies, curves have more appeal.

Familiar

This is the first image available from our engagement session this past Friday. I feel self-conscious looking at pictures of myself, but I think it turned out nicely. I would like to have seen the photo shoot from Odin's perspective, or from the standpoint of a passer by. We were supposed to look serious in this picture, but it was hard because the dog was so wiggly.

Lipstick

*Image via abc & fffound by way of Design Crush

I'm not a huge fan of lipstick on a regular basis, but it does help me feel dressed-up and fancy. I'm also a fan of glossy lips. I like the idea of a straw photo, especially because we're having the fun bottled Cokes at our reception (Trevor wouldn't have it any other way - Coke is his vice). I think that lipstick paired with a fancy straw and glass bottle, would make a lovely photo. I can also imagine a silhouette of a soda fountain couple, two straws and a coke bottle.

Books

*Image via Good Stock

Books count as paper right? I just happened upon a fantastic site where you can create custom books, picture books really, but more. Some of my favorites were commemorating milestone birthdays, anniversaries, family trees and inside jokes. I know that most photographers offer custom album information, but some of the accordian books look like they'd make a perfect keepsake or gift. I'm thinking of my mom. Plus, I'm always on the lookout for a good DIY opportunity. The Kolo website has some great photo albums, and some great sale prices too.

Photos

We were supposed to have our engagement photos taken last weekend but opted to postpone them due to the unpredictable weather. It has been unusually cold here in Seattle and we've had much more snow this year, and this week, than ever. We decided to wait a week or two because we're scheduled to shoot outside and the ground was going to be either soggy or frozen. I want to know how these brides-to-be do it? How do all of the engagement photos I see look so fabulous. These are real people, but yet so cleverly arranged, so in love and so glamorous. I'm working on it, really. I'm going to go swim and then practice strutting my stuff.

Attendant

For some reason people have been asking me if we're including the dog in our wedding ceremony. This question has always seemed absurd to me until I saw this picture. I get the desire to include the beloved pet, but it didn't quite click, until I saw the bedecked bulldogs. No, I have not changed my mind. Having Odin in our engagement photos will be enough. I can see the other side more clearly now.

A regular gal

We're getting ready to have our engagement photos taken and all of these wedding blogs have set the bar so high. I keep thinking about how I'm really a pretty normal person, who is not in the least bit glamorous. My fiance is an amateur photographer and when we got our puppy I was so happy that he would have a new subject to practice on. I hate having my picture taken because it always makes me feel insecure. I'm afraid of the double chin look, or of the picture not representing who I really am. I tend to make angry eyebrows. Hopefully bringing Odin to our photo shoot and the goal of having fun, being relaxed and enjoying myself will make it all better. All I truly want is some great pictures of myself, in love. I'll be sure to post photos, I promise.

Until then, check out Rock 'n Roll Bride for some beautiful, unique photos. You won't be disappointed. I only wish I could look this cool on a regular basis. Are balloons and bicycles the new mandatory photo props? What is the newest trend you've noticed?
