Tattoo

Today I was finally able to surprise Trevor. I had been trying to come up with something special to do for him for months and months. When we asked about what he wanted as a graduation gift he mentioned tools. He's really into what he calls tinkering. Knowing what I do about the man I'm about to marry, I see no short supply of tools in his future. He buys himself everything he wants and is therefore difficult to shop for. Ever since I met him, Trevor has been complaining about some shoddy tattoo work on his left leg. Today we walked into a local shop and I paid for him to have the beginning hours of retouching and repairing color work. He is now sore, but much happier about his artwork. Now every time he spies his tattoo, he will no longer be embarrassed or disappointed, instead he will think of his lovely lady and the present he would never give himself.

Home alone

I'm all by myself with the dog and the cat. I am going to use this time wisely and ditch the internet to get some homework graded and to get my wits in order for the upcoming weeks.

Mad Hatter

What a surprise, one of my friends made me a hat many indie brides would be proud to wear. The shower theme was based on Alice in Wonderland and was fantastic. Several ladies inquired as to whether I would be wearing this at the wedding. It did give me pause, I hadn't been planning on adorning my head with much of anything. I'm not much of a traditional veil girl. Now, I'm on a mission to create a fun dew-drop style bird cage veil. Lucky for me I know a milliner.

Saturday night

Today is going to be a long, but fun day. My friends are throwing me a shower with a 'surprise' theme (that I really don't know anything about) and an evening out on the town. All of my favorite people in one place, with some dancing to look forward to, makes me a really happy girl. I'm also especially pleased to know that some of my best friends have really taken to each other. That just leaves me tickled.

p.s. Trevor baked a test cake today and I woke up to a house full of chocolate cake aroma, mmm!

Trendy

When I thought of the 'not really a color scheme' and decided to let all of the ladies wear whatever they wanted in the color gray, I had no idea that it would be the latest trend popping up all over the place. I have to say, now that I see more photos of weddings with mismatched gray dresses, I like what I see. My purse frames came in the mail today and there were even tiny little patterns (albeit in Japanese). I am so glad today is Friday.

Projects

A few of these little purse frames are headed my way. Hopefully I'll be able to put together something cute to hand to my ladies as a kind thank you. I found some great pattern resources online, now to measure twice, cut once, stitch, and finish. I have a feeling they'll be a hit - you always know a gift is good when it is hard to give away. I can't wait to see their delighted faces.

Children's stories

My 11th graders get a full period of story time today. This picture made me giggle. I can't wait to give them all turns to read their children's books to each other, I can't wait to have them all sitting on the floor cris-cross-applesauce. (I think that they secretly can't wait either). Kids love story time, at any age, they really do.

26

Only 26 days until the wedding, no wonder I feel like I'm going crazy. At least I'm not alone, another May bride is feeling the crunch as well. It is great to have comrades on the internet and a place to organize my thoughts, in the least. It is good to know I'm not alone and that no one expects me to keep my head on for the entire last month. It feels good to ask for help.

Smile?

*Image via the Daily Mail

My tooth cracked and now it is officially broken. I have to sit in the dentists' chair today and cross my fingers that I don't have anything else wrong in my mouth. Not a fun place to be, not a fun place for too early on a Saturday morning.
