Kisses
Yesterday while crafting, I was inspired by sending love in the form of hugs and kisses to my friends. It was simple, and worked out perfectly for me. Now I have to finish personalizing these babies to get them into the mail. This is my weakness. I just need to be at the ready with postcard stamps. Do you send letters in the mail or do you prefer the electronic version?

Dragon
The clever folks at Hello! Lucky have done it again, witty, funny artistic Valentine's Day cards. I love seeing what they come up with each year. Today I will be crafting some Valentines of my own and hope to make something fun. I've been finding inspiration all over and now it is my turn to get to work and create a note for the folks I love and miss. Are you feeling crafty?

Unicorn
A new book on my classroom shelf is Zombies vs. Unicorns and this Valentine made me laugh. I saw the book and my first impression is that I wanted to pick it up because it was so pretty. The cover is full of bright colorful pictures of zombie on unicorn battle and vice versa. I finally began reading some of the short stories inside and think Holly should send Justine this card for the upcoming February holiday. Hopefully I can get through some more of these stories while my students are testing again tomorrow. What light reading have you picked up lately?

Bulldog
In all of this love, I cannot forget my bulldog. This print might actually end up in my home. if you zoom in, you would be able to see that the silhouette is actually a map of Washington and it includes the area where Odin was born and where we lived when we brought him home. I never thought I would love a dog like I love Odin. Do you have a pet to snuggle with?

Corny
Yes, I met my husband on the internet (I'll let you guess where). Every time I see cards like this it makes me smile. I'm glad that I'm not having to slog through dating sites or that I'm not out on any more bad dates. My heart goes out to two of my friends who are still looking for the right match. It will come along, be patient. Bad dates make for great stories anyway. Did I ever tell you about my date with the cat-vampire? (Sadly, I am not joking).

Map
You can read this image two ways, either the intended message is love for San Antonio or love from San Antonio. I'm broadcasting the latter. Much love broadcasting to my friends and family from deep in the heart of Texas. This weekend I'm making Valentines at craft day and hopefully will get plenty addressed so that they can be mailed and in everyone's hands by the 14th. Do you send Valentine's Day cards to your loved ones?

Tokens
Did you ever get sweet little notes in your lunch box? That is what I immediately thought of when I saw these cards. Too bad I make my own lunch these days... Maybe I could slip something into my husband's work bag instead. Where have you found unexpected love or appreciation lately?

Parts of Speech
Ok, I am an English teacher if you haven't already noticed (me ranting about students). This card is hilarious and perfect for the likes of the word lovers. May creativity abide.

Date
Tonight we're getting all dressed up for a fancy date. I'm going to put on a dress and glam it up, surely my husband will look good as well. Not just any date, but a fancy date. We don't have these too often and I'm excited. The food is going to be spectacular and I will definitely save room for dessert. How is your Saturday night looking?

Ode
Oh Friday, do I adore you so. The last day of the week that leads to my freedom. Friday is the day I look forward to the bell and the coming of the fourth period savages because they will soon be gone from my mind once I pull out of the parking lot. Lovely Friday, thank goodness I have something to look forward to. Which is your favorite day of the week?

Slice
We had a little slice of fame online yesterday in the Practical community. The husband and I put our heads together to write a blog post about baking our own wedding cake (he did all of the baking). It was pretty basic, mostly about the process of putting everything together. I'm sure that there are plenty of follow up questions. It feels great to be able to share parts of our wedding and what we learned online. Questions? Don't be shy!

Spork
While this isn't a traditional Valentine, when I saw the image I pictured my husband cooking in our kitchen. I know in some cultures it is a tradition to have a nice wooden fork and spoon in the kitchen, this could be a subtle modern homage. I'm not sure my husband digs Valentines the way I do, but I think he could dig a card like this. What do you think of a spork Valentine?
p.s. or the naughtier version...

Fortunate
One year all of my loved ones received these fun felt fortune cookie Valentines. Surprisingly simple to make, they were also a hit because they were so cute. You can replicate the craft with paper too, and make these cookies with what you have on hand at home. I am compiling inspiration so that I have a productive craft day at the end of the month putting together Valentine's Day goodies. I started this blog on that fateful February day almost two years ago and plan to celebrate accordingly. Drop me a note and let me know what you love about the blog and guarantee yourself a fun little Valentine in exchange. Why do you stop by and read?

Frosted
I'm almost halfway done with the grading so I decided to take an internet break. I'm about to become a little more famous online! Just before Christmas Meg's intern Lauren contacted me and asked if I would write a piece for their new DIY section. I was flattered and honored to collaborate with my husband on our piece. It should be up sometime this week and I couldn't be more excited to share what we learned with the practical community. I'll give you one guess as to what the post is about...

Friday
This is my internal Friday message. Then I will cloister myself like a Benedictine monk and grade essays all long weekend long. Oh, children, what your teachers do for you. How is your Friday looking?

Ampersand
My attitude needs some uplifting. Paper, prints and ampersands are a great combination. I need to dwell on the good things in my day and be thankful for those bright parts. How do you turn your attitude around?

Buttheads
My kids are not being nice this week. Some of my kids are great all of the time, some are awful all of the time. At the end of the grading period you expect students to suck up to you, not yesterday. What has happened to kids that grades don't matter and success is a choice? I am baffled by this and wish there was some way to create intrinsic rewards where there are none. Any ideas?

Rushed
On Friday I was pleased to find out that our school's grades for the semester would be due this coming Friday. We were supposed to have the entire long weekend to grade and I planned my lessons accordingly. My students are turning an essay into me on Thursday and it looks like it won't make their report card because someone changed their mind on dates. My whole plan for this week may be up in the air, and instead of blogging I will probably be grading. Posting may be light this week. Ugggg.... Monday.

Expo
Today, after a full-pool water polo scrimmage I'm headed to the local bridal expo. This is not my idea of fun and I am trying to muster up a good attitude and some excitement. I am going as a favor to my friend, a bridesmaid. I am going as a wing-woman. To me, the whole idea of attending this expo is similar to a horror movie. Thank goodness my ticket was free. Maybe I'll find out that my planning process was even more guilded than I remember. What have you done for a friend lately?

Caffeine
Today is off to an incredibly slow start. I woke up with a headache. After medicine and breakfast and a nap I think coffee is my next resort to kicking this headache. What are your headache remedies?

Mirror
Yesterday when I got home I had the house to myself for several hours. After gazing at the holiday aftermath and mess I decided to clean. It feels good to know that the sink is empty and the dishes are clean. Counters are clear, I dusted and even did some small rearranging. This small cleaning spurt got me thinking more about decorating. It is time to put some final touches in our space. A few more plants and definitely a round mirror. Where do you suggest I look?

Pool
This week I started training with a local masters swimming group. Although I really enjoy water polo, it isn't quite the same as good ol' swim team. I have an option to swim four days a week, great especially for a procrastinator like me. The biggest bonus is that unlike most masters groups, we practice in the evenings. I am not a morning swim person, never have been. Now, I need to work on winding down in the evenings. Has your new year included a new exercise routine?

Poppies
I wanted to put this print in the mail to my mother for Christmas, good thing Valentine's Day is a red-themed holiday too! Now that the shop owner is back from vacation I can finally put this gift together. It will be a two holiday mash-up in the mail. Packages for no reason are even more fun, don't you think?

Bacon
I know it's only the beginning of January but my mind is already wandering onto Valentine's Day cards. I'm trying to think of something fantastic to send out this year. While at Michael's the other day I scored a cool custom stamp kit. Now I can craft fun messages and create a fun card for my friends. I'm easily inspired by etsy. Is it too early to start?

Sleepy
I like my job, but I think I like vacation more. Sleeping in and waking up refreshed and un-rushed for the past two weeks has been lovely. Setting my alarm last night was no fun at all. I'm lucky enough to get a nice extended holiday due to my students, I know not everyone has had a long, leisurely holiday. I can feel your glares and smug smiles through the internet. My fingers are crossed that my students did their homework. Monday already?

New
Yesterday when we left our friend's house I gazed up at the winter sky. I haven't paid attention to the stars in a while and it was a clear crisp night. We rang in the year with friends and spent the day together and the evening with more friends. I think this means our year is off to a great start. One more day of rest before a return to real life. How is the beginning of your new year?
