I never thought I'd see Bon Jovi on a Valentine's Day card.  I like it. Which other rock lyrics would make good VDay cards?

Found

Last year I went to Seattle to celebrate my 30th birthday.  When I packed for the trip, I re-loaded my ipod with a bunch of music to entertain me as I flew, rode buses and strolled around the city.  It was great but somewhere on that trip my ipod disappeared.  I feared the worst because I had been on crowded buses and in stores and thought maybe someone picked my pocket.  It made me sad, but I moved on.  For Christmas that year my mom gave me a sweet new ipod touch (that later was stolen by one of my devious students...).  Today I was in my bedroom amidst the chaos of unpacked luggage and spied something peculiar on the floor.  It was a red mesh pouch with an ipod and headphones neatly tucked inside, the same ipod and heaphones that disappeared over a year ago.  I have no idea where they have been hiding, but I'm guessing it has something to do with a secret compartment in the luggage my husband was using, because I swear I searched everywhere.  I feel old, but I sure am happy that now that one ipod really was stolen I still have another full of good music to listen to.  Have you ever had something disappear on you, only to reappear much later?

Roatary

I wonder, if I put a rotary phone in front of my 8th graders, how long it would take them to figure out how to dial it? I wonder if they've ever seen one in person?  I'm feeling a little nostalgic today as R.E.M. are no longer a band and Nirvana's Nevermind is celebrating the 20th anniversary of it's release.  Back when I was in middle school those two bands were a huge part of my world.  I'm glad I never had a cell phone to distract me.  What do you remember fondly from middle school?

Banjo

Last night I rushed home after school to get ready for a night out. We went to a nice restaurant downtown to take advantage of restaurant week in SA. After meeting friends for dinner we walked to the Majestic to see Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers play a bluegrass show. It was a fantastic show and reminds me that I haven't seen nearly enough live music since leaving Seattle. Tonight we're heading out for another restaurant week dinner and I'm excited. Tomorrow we wake early and head into Austin for a 5k fun run with some people in Trevor's program. I can't believe that my weekend is so booked! What are you doing this weekend?

Triple

*Image & print by PRRINT

For most people, the triple crown is a race for horses and I am sure that it is extremely exciting. Instead of sitting in a dentist's chair for three hours tomorrow, I would much rather be a three-year-old horse out racing. That would actually be quite awesome, in fact. Not this girl, I get to eat a substantial breakfast, because I'm assuming that lunch will be liquid after three hours of dental work or that I will just be in a foul mood and unable to chew properly. Wish me luck. They did say, however, that I could bring an ipod to drown out the noise and keep me entertained. What songs should I add to the triple crown playlist?

Shuffle

Great news for me! I had this awesome little ipod shuffle that was my perfect electronic running buddy. Just clip it on and go. I brought it to Utah so I could listen to some music on the plane and on the return trip it stayed in the seat-back pocket while I exited for home. I was pretty crushed because this ipod had been a gift from my husband, he even had it engraved with his favorite Lithuanian word, blynas (pancake). I figured I would just write off the loss, but put an e-mail into the airline's lost and found just in case. Yesterday someone let me know that they found it. I am so excited. How has your faith in humanity been restored lately?

Gems

When I first saw this shirt I sent it to my favorite lover of all things sparkly. Now it reminds me of a new band I have been enjoying. Phantogram's 'Mouthful of Diamonds' comes to mind when I look at this T. I think that it would be fun to dress this up and wear it out on the town, guess that means I'd have to make plans.

p.s. have a listen
